A kőszegi zsidókat 1944. július 4-én a szombathelyi gettó többi lakójával együtt Auschwitzba deportálták. A gettó megtisztítása után 1944. november 28-án 15 000 munkaszolgálatost szállítottak Kőszegre a budapesti Josefstadt pályaudvarról. Nagyon kevesen élték túl a gettó és a munkaszolgálat sorspróbáit. A többség mártírhalált szenvedett a rendkívüli fizikai megterhelés és az őrök emberellenes magatartása miatt.</text>

                <text>Eine tragische Episode in der modernen Geschichte der Stadt Kőszeg ist die Einrichtung des Ghettos und das Schicksal der Zwangsarbeiter. Am 4. Juli 1944 wurden die Juden von Kőszeg zusammen mit den anderen Bewohnern des Ghettos in Szombathely nach Auschwitz deportiert. Am 28. November 1944, nach der Räumung des Ghettos, wurden 15.000 Zwangsarbeiter vom Bahnhof Josefstadt in Budapest nach Kőszeg transportiert. Nur sehr wenige überlebten die Torturen des Ghettos und der Zwangsarbeitslagers. Die meisten erlitten den Märtyrertod aufgrund der extremen körperlichen Belastung und des unmenschlichen Verhaltens der Wachen.</text>

                <text>Die Rolle des so genannten sozialistischen Blocks und des Eisernen Vorhangs bestand darin, die Länder von den europäischen Demokratien abzusperren. Im Sommer 1948 beschloss die ungarische Führung, eine technische Sperre zu errichten. Im Jahr 1955 beschloss die Regierung, mit dem Abbau der Grenzsperre zu beginnen. Die Zahl der illegalen Grenzgänger vervielfachte sich, und die Ereignisse von 1956 verschärften die Situation noch. Nach der Niederschlagung der Revolution wurde die Westgrenze wieder geschlossen. Das Abriegelungssystem schnitt ganze Siedlungen vom Land ab, beeinträchtigte die Wirtschaft und die Einwohner erhielten Sondererlaubnisse, um durch die Tore zu kommen. Im März 1989 wurde der Abbau der Sperren eingeleitet.</text>

                <text>Az ún. szocialista tábor és a vasfüggöny szerepe az volt, hogy az országokat elzárja az európai demokráciáktól. 1948 nyarán a magyar vezetés műszaki zár kiépítését határozta el. 1955-ben kormánydöntés alapján megkezdték a határzár felszedését. Megsokszorozódott az illegális határátlépők száma, amit az 1956-os események tovább fokoztak. A forradalom leverésével a nyugati országhatárt újra lezárták. A rendszer teljes településeket vágott el az országtól, hatással volt a gazdaságra, a lakosság igazolványokat kapott, hogy átjuthasson a kapukon. 1989 márciusában terjesztették a jelzőberendezés lebontását. </text>
